Long long ago, not so long ago

A lush rain forest in South

Trees spoke to each other

Told tales and stories like a gentle mother

In Summer, they fumbled and mumbled

In Monsoon, they sang and danced

In Autumn, they grumbled and tumbled

In Winter, they hushed, washed and sighed

Awaiting spring to take a leap of joy

Growing old, worried

Carried duties of lush forest

Among them,

An ancient big banyan tree

Housed many a birds and beauty

Chirps, tunes & cooing

Order of the day

They tweeted morning & evenings

Quiet was never a language

As time moves

Forests attacked by nature's fury

Trees held each other in embrace tightly, so to big banyan

Birds too didn't stray.

One day as days moved

Rain forest fell silent

Birds flew to greener pastures

Morning and evening tweets disappeared

Trees did speak to each other

Winds carried a message, they thought

Large winds and weakening branches

They feared rain forest became an abandoned land.

Can ancient big banyan ever be abandoned?

With roots deep in soil

Some roots strong up in the air to be branches

They welcomed the return of voices old and new

Never truly alone

.Ancient big banyan tree

Is the community of warmth & comfort

We all seek.
